What: SouthEast LinuxFest
When: June 11-13, 2010
Where: Marriott at Renaissance Park, Spartanburg, SC
Matt Ray, Community Manager for Zenoss Core, is presenting a session entitled “Monitoring Bare Metal to the Clouds with Zenoss” at SouthEast LinuxFest on Saturday, June 12th at 9am ET. He will also be a panelist on the “Monitoring Roundtable.”
Active in Open Source for more than 10 years, Ray has managed the Zenoss Community for the last two years. Prior to Zenoss, Ray spent almost four years as a Senior Product Developer and Technical Lead for BMC. Ray received his master’s degree in software engineering and bachelor’s degrees in computer science and geological science from the University of Texas at Austin. Ray’s personal blog can be found at LeastResistance.net and he is @mattray on Twitter.
In his presentation, Ray will provide an overview of Zenoss and how it can be used to monitor the network, physical servers, virtual servers, and applications; why Zenoss' Community of Open Source users make Zenoss much more useful and capable than traditional monitoring tools; and how Zenoss embraces dynamic infrastructure (virtualization and clouds) and works in a DevOps environment.
According to the SouthEast LinuxFest wiki, The Southeast LinuxFest is a community event for anyone who wants to learn more about Linux and Free and Open Source software. It is part educational conference, and part social gathering. Like Linux itself, it is shared with attendees of all skill levels to communicate tips and ideas, and to benefit all who use Linux/Free and Open Source Software. LinuxFest is the place to learn, to make new friends, to network with new business partners, and most importantly, to have fun!
Zenoss, a gold sponsor of the 2010 SouthEast LinuxFest, is the primary sponsor of Zenoss Core - an award winning open source network monitoring and systems management project that delivers the functionality to effectively manage the configuration, health and performance of networks, servers and applications through a single, integrated software package. The Zenoss Community is comprised of over 75,000 active members who are instrumental in evolving the solution as well as providing timely support and help for all questions. One of the most active projects on SourceForge, Zenoss Core has been downloaded over one million times and is being used by companies in over 180 countries.
