Zenoss Expands Real-Time Application Monitoring for Zoom

Company Broadens Monitoring for UCaaS Platforms

AUSTIN, Texas - August 24, 2023 - Zenoss Inc., a leader in AI-driven full-stack monitoring, today announced new monitoring capabilities for Zoom. This innovative real-time monitoring of Zoom streaming data builds on a broader set of initiatives focused on business communications platforms, which emerged as business-critical applications during the global trend of expanding remote workforces over the past few years.

As organizations worldwide continue to deal with growing and potentially permanent remote workforces, traditional unified communications vendors have been increasingly replaced by vendors offering unified communications as a service (UCaaS). As such, organizations have prioritized monitoring and ensuring quality of service for these applications. Zenoss responded to this dynamic by offering UCaaS monitoring to complement its broader AI-driven infrastructure monitoring.

The initial production version of Zoom was released in January 2013. By the end of the month, Zoom had 400,000 users. By May 2013, it had over 1 million users. By February 2020 (after the COVID-19 pandemic began), Zoom had gained 2.22 million users. By mid-2021, Zoom had approximately 50% market share. In 2022, 350 million people participated in meetings on Zoom every day. It remains a top option for companies standardizing on UCaaS platforms.

The Zenoss market-leading monitoring capabilities for Zoom include:

  • Cloud-based monitoring with zero install.
  • Monitoring Zoom in the same pane of glass as the broader infrastructure.
  • Unique insights on business and technical aspects of the service.
  • Zoom connector metrics, including those for dashboards, reports and billing — these cover a range of parameters around meetings, participants, durations and chats.
  • Zenoss Cloud features, including intelligent dashboards, Smart View, actions, inventory and events.
  • No training required for operations personnel.
  • Intelligent monitoring at the edge with policy-driven metrics ingestion.
  • Anonymized personally identifiable information for full privacy protection.

"These enhancements underscore our ongoing pledge to empower our customers with the tools they need to ensure their operations always run smoothly and efficiently," said Trent Fitz, chief product officer at Zenoss. "As our customers embrace change, we remain committed to helping them navigate the risks and complexities of those changes."
