AUSTIN, Texas - March 7, 2017 - Zenoss Inc., the leader in hybrid IT monitoring, today announced that longtime customer Temple University plans to extend its use of Zenoss, the full-featured and commercially supported unified monitoring platform, to manage its predominantly virtual IT infrastructure. The university has shifted 96 percent of its servers to virtual machines with cost savings as the key driver.
The Zenoss platform continues to align with Temple’s need to efficiently monitor over 3,600 devices with peaks of about 400 events per second. And Temple is now planning a migration to the latest Zenoss 5 platform in order to further automate their monitoring capabilities as part of a more agile, DevOps-focused approach.
"It is extremely difficult to manage the broad range of stakeholders the university must support," said Brian Wilson, senior vice president of customer success at Zenoss. "Students, faculty, staff, hospital affiliates and even campus visitors all share business and personal information across Temple's servers and networks. With security a paramount concern, the university must take a measured approach to new technology adoption while still maintaining cutting-edge capabilities."
Temple University has been a Zenoss customer for more than seven years, originally using just the community-supported, open-source code. However, they quickly embraced the need for enterprise-level support when the university explored, and soon adopted, a "virtual first" mindset, relying on virtual server management as the key to faster deployment of services for the university’s many schools of focus and tens of thousands of students.
