Zenoss Community,
Greetings. I wanted to take a few minutes and give you an overall
update on all things Zenoss...
It has been a while since our last update. A lot of good stuff is
going on. Please see the highlights below.
Overall, we're very happy with progress and adoption. With over 20K
downloads in the last 3 months, over 1200 folks on our mailing lists,
and being recognized as one of the top 10 open source projects to
watch. We're growing more quickly than we had planned!
Thank you as always for your support and interest in the product/
project.

Zenoss Highlights August & September:
Network World Magazine published its Top 10 Open Source companies to Watch
Zenoss Software Product
- 0.22 has been release including several patches (0.22.4 is latest)
- download latest at http://www.zenoss.com/download
- key features of 0.22 include:
- support for Nagios plugins
- several GUI enhancements
- support for maintenance windows
- improved handling of unicode character sets
- improved assignment of users to systems
Venture Funding
On Aug 11, we announced that we had landed venture financing
of $4.8M
The good news for Zenoss community members and end users is
that this means we
have the resources to continue to invest in the project and
community and ensure
that we remain the most complete open source IT management
product
We worked hard to find venture capitalists who understand and
are committed to open source
The use of proceeds is primarily for the hiring of talent to
drive the following:
Product development
Community development and project partnering
development and sales of commercial offerings
Zenoss Web Sites
- We collapsed zenoss.org and zenoss.com into one web site
(zenoss.com)
- We did this because it was getting confusing as to where to
go for content and we
were struggling keep both current
- As our community infrastructure improves and gets further
built out, we'll revisit
the separate web site issue

Zenoss Team Building
We have had several key folks join the team including:

- now handling our product release communications
- also currently working on a "Zenoss Quick Start" guide
