Zenoss' pedigree is from work done at a large telco application service provider in the early 2000s where cloud based services were first born. There, in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment, a traditional big 4 monitoring tool was failing. The management tool was too complex, un-integrated, too expensive, and too 'static' to monitor the services required by the dynamic nature and scale of the business.

Frustrated by these legacy shackles, the creation of Zenoss came as a result of the age-old question - "Is there a better way?" To answer this question, Zenoss was born with a mighty "This is it, your moment of Zen!" in 2005.
